Try Origami!

Au pair

When you want foreigner to experience Japanese culture, you can use “Origami”.

we are in Japanese week.

I tried making origami with the kids because I got some origami from Japanese roommate when I lived in a share house before coming to Blue mountains.

Sister was interested.

Sister: “I know origami!”

She said that she had made origami cranes in the past by YouTube. But she couldn’t make it because she couldn’t understand how to fold it only the movie.

Therefore, we made origami cranes together.

Teaching the process in English was difficult for me so I showed her the way prior and she did the step.

Then, she taught me the English for the movements I was showing her. We taught each other how to fold the cranes.

Match corners, turn in over…

Finally, spread the wings…

Done!!

Sister: So cool. One more!!

She took a new origami and started to fold again.

And then, she could make good cranes.

Why don’t we fold smaller cranes?!

We folded a lot of cranes of various sizes and had fun with origami.

P.S.

Boy didn’t join it. But later, I and Boy made paper airplane and competed.

I learned that Australian kids also make and play with paper airplane.

I could enjoy making paper craft with the kids:)
